September 15, 2009

  Dear Coach:

As we prepare for another exciting season of high school wrestling, the Niagara Frontier Wrestling Officials’ Association is once again busy making plans for our annual wrestling tournament.

Please accept this letter as your official invitation to be one of the teams chosen to participate in the NFWOA Wrestling Tournament on January 8th and 9th, 2010 at Niagara County Community College.

Each team may enter up to 15 wrestlers, with multiple entrants allowed in each weight class.

Once again, we will be limiting the number of teams invited to participate in the tournament.  It is essential that you respond quickly to this letter. Confirmation of your attendance at the tournament must be received by the NFWOA by September 21, 2008.  The entry fee is $250 per team, due by January 8, 2010.  There will be a $40 late charge for teams who have not paid before the first round of wrestling.   The check can be mailed to:

       NFWOA

     747 Ohio St

     N Tonawanda, NY 14120

Only those teams specifically invited to the 2010 tournament will be allowed to attend.  Attendance in past years does not guarantee a spot in the upcoming tournament.  You can reserve your spot in the tournament by e-mailing Brian Dowdall at nfwoatour@roadrunner.com.

For teams that will be traveling, there will likely be group rates available at the Comfort Inn in Niagara Falls, New York.  The drive from the hotel to the college is approximately 20 minutes.  In November, you will receive information on how to obtain the group rates.

Please note that all pertinent information on the 2010 tournament will be found at www.nfwoa.org.  Furthermore, all correspondence is to be conducted via www.nfwoa.org and nfwoatour@roadrunner.com.  If you are no longer the coach, please forward this e-mail to the new coach.  Each team must submit their response to nfwoatour@roadrunner.com by September 21, 2009.  If your team accepts this invitation, please also consider this letter your payment invoice.

  Yours in Wrestling,

  Brian Dowdall

2010 Niagara Frontier Wrestling Officials Tournament

To:                     Wrestling Coaches and Athletic Directors

From:                     NFWOA Tournament Committee

Re:               2010 Tournament

The following information will help you prepare for the NFWOA Wrestling Tournament to be held at Niagara County Community College (NCCC - www.niagaracc.suny.edu) January 8th and 9th, 2010.

1.        We will be using a double elimination bracket, guaranteeing each wrestler a minimum of two matches.  Each team may enter up to 15 wrestlers, with multiple entrants allowed in each weight class.

2.        The registration fee is $250 per team.  Please send a check as soon as possible.  There will be a $40 late charge for any teams not paid by the first round of wrestling. Please consider the invitation sent to you in September to be the invoice.  Please mail checks to:

                                NFWOA

                                747 Ohio Street

                                North Tonawanda, NY 14120

3.        There will not be a seeding meeting.  A seeding committee will be selected and will do all seeding on January 5, 2009.  In late December, you will receive “2010 NFWOA Tourney Roster.xls”.  It is essential that all coaches fill out the blue sections of “2009 NFWOA Tourney Roster.xls” and return it via e-mail to nfwoatour@roadrunner.com by January 4, 2009.  “2010 NFWOA Tourney Roster.xls” will be e-mailed to each coach, but you will also be able to download it from http://nfwoa.org/.  Only wrestlers with a winning record are eligible for seeding.  Seeds will be qualitatively determined using the following criteria:

2009 - 2010 season head-to-head competition

2009 state tournament place finish

2009 NFWOA Tournament place finish

2009 - 2010 season winning percent

Any first round byes will be drawn and placed after all eligible wrestlers are seeded. All unseeded wrestlers will then be placed by random draw.  Any team that does not return roster information will have all wrestlers placed by draw.

4.        If any wrestler that is seeded does not make weight, he may wrestle in a higher weight class unseeded.  In this case, all wrestlers seeded below the scratched wrestler will be moved up accordingly.
